Film Club

We meet every Wednesday with Miss Dennis in Ark Royal from 3.30-4.30. The club is a member of the national Filmclub Society which is ‘an education charity helping transform young lives through film.’

We have watched many different films from all different times and genres, ranging from Princess Mononoki, a Japanese Manga film, to Labyrinth, a dark quest adventure starring David Bowie. When we have watched the film we discuss it at the club, and we can write a review on the website for people across the country to read. Several of our members have won the 'Reviewer of the week' competition. There are lots of other competitions on the website as well as members being able to select a wish list of films.

Sometimes we are able to have visitors to the film club to talk about different aspects of the world of film. In the past we have welcomed Rupert Miles, a TV and Bafta award winning film director, and Catherine Johnson, script writer of Mamma Mia to the club. In the summer we have Secret Cinema when we are told the theme to dress up but we don't know what we're going to watch until we arrive. We have popcorn and snacks and enjoy the fun of the film.
