July 2015 - Butterflies emerge in Reception

1st July 2015

The children in Reception have been lucky enough to observe the caterpillar life cycle. Our tiny caterpillars arrived (in the post!) and promptly grew into lovely large caterpillars. We then watched as they each formed themselves into a cocoon (also known as a pupa or chrysalis). Within the cocoon the old body parts of the caterpillar were undergoing a remarkable transformation, and soon they had developed into beautiful butterflies! In the film clip you can watch one of our butterflies slowly emerging from its cocoon.
