Nursery & Reception

Mrs Ferguson

Nursery Teacher

I am Mrs Ferguson, and have taught at Waycroft since 1989, where I started my career teaching in the nursery. I have been fortunate to work under the leadership of many inspiring head teachers, and have taught across key stage 1 throughout these years. I now find myself back in nursery, the place where I first started, and where I feel my passion lies. I enjoy providing children with an environment where they are able to confidently explore and develop an enthusiasm and love of learning.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, valuing precious times spent together.

Mr Jenkins

Reception Teacher

I am Mr Jenkins. I have been teaching at Waycroft since 1984, some of the pupils I taught are now Waycroft parents themselves. I spent most of my years teaching in Reception. I love working with young children and enjoy seeing them learn and develop. Prior to teaching I studied music at Cardiff University and then went on to study trombone at the Royal Academy of Music, I have also been a peripatetic brass teacher, a conductor at a children’s Saturday morning music centre and a professional musician (I once performed on the pyramid stage at the Glastonbury Festival!) Outside school I enjoy 5-a-side football and playing my trombone in brass bands and orchestras. I have really enjoyed working with other staff to develop ‘Free Range Play’ at Waycroft.

Mrs May

Reception Teacher

I am Mrs May. I have been teaching since 2007. I spent 7 years teaching at West Town Lane Primary School and have been teaching at Waycroft since then. I have a real passion for teaching young children and see my role as a real privilege in introducing young children to the wonders of learning. I have taught in Nursery, Reception and Year 1 in my career.

I also have a love of dance and have taken children to the Colston Hall to perform in the ‘Stages’ dance event for many years. Whilst at school myself I was fortunate to perform in ‘Stages’ at many venues in Bristol and Bath, including the Bristol Hippodrome. I run a weekly Sing and Sign club at lunchtime each Wednesday.

Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my young family, and spending the holidays catching up with my parents and siblings who are also all teachers!

Miss McGrath

Reception Teacher

I'm Mrs McGrath
I've been teaching since 2010 and have worked both in Bristol and at an international school in China. I have taught years 1, 3 and 4 and now teach in Reception. To me, children are truly fascinating and I love helping them to make progress and reach their potential, whatever their age.

Prior to teaching, I worked as a copywriter and studied English at Cardiff University. I also have a love for languages and am fluent in French. My first love was dance and I still enjoy dance classes of all kinds when I get the chance. I have a young family and, most of all, I love to spend time at home with them.
