Year 3

Roman settlement in Caerleon

The children in year 3 visit the town of Caerleon in South Wales. Caerleon was a Roman settlement and there's plenty to see! We go there to support the learning that we do in our Romans in Britain topic. The children go to the museum, learn about life in the Roman army including a trip to a mock-up barrack house, then we spend some time at a real Roman amphitheatre. We also visit the Roman baths in the town and see how Romans kept themselves clean. The children always learn so much on this trip and enjoy handling artefacts that bring the stories alive for them.
